Q&A-What is a reasonable price to pay for airfare to Ireland?
Question: What is a reasonable price to pay for airfare to Ireland?
I want to visit Ireland in October, and prices right now seem to hover around 0 based on several of the airfare search sites (expedia, orbitz, travelocity). Is that a reasonable price, or should I wait it out a bit and possibly get a better deal?
Flying from Phoenix.

Question: Pricing airfare to Ireland from US?
We would like to go to Ireland next summer (2008), and the airfare to Ireland is too much. Has anyone traveled from say New York to Ireland and didn’t pay so much. Any advice would be appreciated.

You have to realize that summer is high season in Europe. Fares from the states can be as high as ,000 round trip. The airline with the cheapest fares to Dublin/Shannon is Aer Lingus. They are now a low-cost carrier trying to challenge RyanAir for a share of the market. Be prepared to pay a high fare anytime between mid-May to mid-September.

One thing I found useful is to find out what airlines they come up with and then check out those airlines sites yourself. These sort of sites charge massive commission sometimes.

search expedia.com, priceline.com , travelocity.com every day for cheap trips to ireland. Subsribe to travelzoo. They have cheap deals to ireland once in a while

Try “expedia.com ” they list rates for a lot of different carriers, also a straight non-stop flight is usually more expensive. If money is tighter than time look into indirect flights with more stops and they are usually cheaper.
Other links to check out are:
travelocity.com
airgorilla.com
allcheapfares.com
or lynotttours.com

I just paid $445 for a roundtrip from Philly to Dublin on Delta.com. Considering the fact that my mom’s plane ticket from Atlanta to San Diego cost $1200, I’d say that’s a good deal.

Try FareChase, they search dozens of websites for you, so you dont have to!!!

Try “Orbitz” from page below.

Flying from the UK and Ireland can become expensive. My advice would be to fly a lowcost airline (Ryanair, EasyJet, TUIfly) to London, then try a major airline to America, such as British Airways, Virgin, United, Delta, Continental, American, etc. You have many options; try a travel agency site to find the lowest fare for your dates.

There’s several airlines competing on New York-Ireland routes from Newark and JFK to Shannon, Dublin, and Belfast. Sometimes Delta is cheapest, sometimes Continental, sometimes Aer Lingus. If you already know which cities and dates, then try http://www.bookingbuddy.com
Due to airfare seasons, fares are highest in summer and cheapest in winter (except around holidays). Some airlines start peak season pricing later than others, so if you depart before July 1, you might have a better chance at cheaper fares. Using midweek days also can keep it a little bit cheaper.
To show you, and to help you track down the cheapest dates and airline, check this out: http://www.farecompare.com/search/year.html?departure=NYC&destination=DUB&p=1 — it lists the cheapest fares by month, and helps you find seats when you click on your travel dates.
A couple more “tricks”: search from “NYC” which will show results from JFK and Newark (and LaGuardia if you don’t mind a connection). If you’re flexible, also search to DUB and SNN and BFS.

To give you an idea for what is a cheap fare from USA to London roundtrip here are some prices I found for early June including taxes:
Boston 550 USD
New York 580 USD
Las Vegas 950 USD
Miami 760 USD (to Dusseldorf)
Miami 900 USD (to London)
Airlines I looked at were flyzoom, Tuifly/Thomsonfly, Condor, LTU, Air Lingus. This was over a month ago so no guarantee the fares are still there, but it will give you an idea what is possible. As a rule anything under 600 USD from NY, Boston and Wsh., DC is a good price. From Seattle, Miami and majority of the US expect to pay around 800 USD, from LA, SF and Las Vegas anything under 1000 USD is a good deal. During July/August prices from the westcoast go up to 1200 USD.
It also doesn’t matter much wihich airport in Europe you fly into if you can get a cheap connection to your destination. If you can fly into Paris for 200 USD less and then catch a flight to Ireland for less than 100 USD return, feel free to do so.
http://www.skyscanner.net can help.
Hope this helped.

Hi I live in N.Ireland and travel to the USA about once a year, never get a direct flight into anywhere in Ireland from America, fly to a London airport then Ireland! Another tip is that is A LOT more expensive to fly to Belfast international or Belfast City than airports down south, such as Shannon or Dublin! As for cheaper airlines probably American Airlines, although we traveled with them last time and it was a rough flight! If you do travel with them bring sandwiches or some other kind of snack! And a book as there isn’t much entertainment! Try and get a good deal on Virgin Atlantic or BA, much nicer flights with good entertainment and decent food! Sometimes you can get VERY good deals on these airlines and sometimes they are quite costly! It mainly just depends on the year! Expedia or BA.com or VirginAtlantic.com are the best places to look! Hope this helps!

Summer is the most expensive time to fly. One month before or one month after can save thousands and you actually can experience Ireland. People who travel know this.
Number one as another said stay away from the US domestic carriers. I travel to the UK on a regular basis and I know that I will end up paying more in the end with a US carrier. Plus service is horrible….. and I say this as an american.
Sign up online with any foriegn carrier that you can think of….. BA, Virgin, Lingus and whatnot. Then pay attention to what deals they offer.

I would like to add the cheapest from most European countries:
http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/
It’s cheap, so don’t expect silver service!
This site is a really useful comparison from/to the UK:
http://flightchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/
You could also try the websites of the various airports in Ireland – they will tell you who flies there.
I have also included Expedia’s site below for flights, hotels and cars etc.
Good luck!

I would use:
