Maryborough
Maryborough is one of Queensland’s oldest towns has much National Trust-listed colonial architecture lining its streets. The Portside Center and Heritage Museum is a fun stop for kids.
Harvey Bay
Four hours north of Brisbane lie Hervey Bay, an idyllic town known as Australia’s whale-watching capital. Migrating whales can be seen between July and November. It is the only place in Australia where all boats guarantee sightings of the magnificent humpback whale during the season.
Fraser Island
Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand island, where holidaying families come for fishing, boating and the great outdoors. This World Heritage, listed island features freshwater lakes, an ancient rainforest, endless sand dunes and plenty of wildlife.
